What is Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type II?

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) results from a lack of collagen and causes very weak bones which are easily fractured. In severe cases (type II) even a fetus in the amniotic sac will have bone fractures as early a 16 weeks gestation. Infants with OI type II are often not viable beyond the first year of life.
